Parents,
I apologize for the see life poster assignment not going home on Friday. I had an emergency that I had to leave during lunch time. I have not sent an attachment through this site before so I hope this works. If not, I will send it home next Monday. Enjoy your Spring break!

Classroom U

I want to give you some updates but first, I want to thank all of the parents who came to parent conference. I would like to also thank the parents who helped donate items for the Fall Festival. Between Mrs. Snider and I, we made about $800. That money will be put back into the classroom. Thank you so much!

Just to let you know we had a great time last week with apples. Your children loved the applesauce they helped make!

We are talking about pumpkins this week and the following 2 weeks we will be having fun learning about bats.

In the homework packet this week, there will be a graphic organizer about pumpkins. It will have the word pumpkin on the top and then CAN, HAVE, and ARE. At the bottom will be an empty box underneath each word. Your child is to write a word that would fit. Example, Pumpkins are orange, Pumpkins have stems, and Pumpkins can roll. I have many  students that should be able to write those easy sentences using the organizer. If your child is advanced, have them write those sentences on another piece of paper.

In the homework folder is a SCHOLASTIC book order. You may write a check to Scholastic, send cash, or go on line to order. At the moment I'm not sure what my classroom code is. I will find that and send it this weekend. I would like to place the order on Friday, October 21st. So, have your orders and money in by the following Friday.

Another item that is in your child's homework folder is their report card. Please make sure to send the envelope back signed on Monday.

This Friday the 15th(tomorrow), wear pink for breast cancer awareness. Next Friday, Oct. 21st is wear white.

Classroom Update

Happy Labor Day weekend! I hope you all enjoy your 3 day weekend!

This past week has been a crazy week with pictures and MAPS Testing. I was extremely pleased with your children's MAPS scores. For those of you who don't know what MAPS is, it is a test that the students take on the computer three times a year. There are two tests, reading and math. It is just one way to see how your child is doing academically.

Just a few reminders
Make sure your child completes homework with a pencil. Homework is due on Thursday. If it's not turned in, your child will sit at recess. Do Not leave anyhting in the folder but their homework.

Your child has brought home 6 books they should be able to read. Find a safe place for them and re-read them everyday.

Classr

Hello Families!
I want to give you an update of what's been going on in the classroom. The first few weeks of school, I like to focus on rules and procedures of the classroom, playground and school. Your children are doing an outstanding job! We have 3 classroom and school rules that we follow. First is to be RESPECTFUL! I use this word all the time and seems to work. Second, is to be RESPONSIBLE. Last, is to be SAFE! Please talk with your children everyday and remind them about their behavior at school.
It can be very difficult for Kindergarteners to transition into coming to school and being away from moms and dads. Im happy to say the past few days we've had no crying. To help out with this transition, all Kindergarten teachers are asking that you drop off your child and leave. There has been way too many parents on the playground and is difficult for the other classes to walk in line to their rooms. Do not wait til the bell rings. We will start to rotate duty in the morning. So, if Im not on the playground but other teachers are, please leave your child. They will be just fine.
PTA NEWS
PTA is providing a spirit shirt for every student. I need your child's size. You can e-mail me or I will have a sign up sheet on the window so that you can write down the size. Please do not do this in the morning, wait til you pick them up. Also, PTA would like a parent rep from every classroom to attend the meetings once a month. This does not mean you have to volunteer your time else where. They would like more parents to be involved with input for your child's school.
BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT!
This Thursday is Back to School Night. It is a time to hear about your child's classroom and the expectations of the school year. Please, make every attempt to make it. It will begin in the Multi-purpose room at 5:30. Classrooms will begin at 6:00. There will be two sessions. So, if you cant make it at 6:00, please come at 6:30.
I am so excited for this year! You're going to be amazed at your child's progress  and what they will be able to do academically by the end of the year.
Thank you for your support with your child's education!
