HOMEWORK
1st homework assignment:
We will be creating our first writing assignment by writing about each student.
1 student will be the King or Queen of the day.
I will be sending home an all about me poster to fill out that will used for our writing.
Your student will be the center of all activities for the day.
We need to begin this task as soon as possible, therefore, please return this work the next day or as soon as possible so we can get started.
It is not needed to make the poster elaborate. Complete is the goal. Please have your student understand what is written on the poster so they can talk about themselves.
These posters are part of getting to know each other and will be displayed in the room.
I will not be assigning homework packets for the first week of school. I would like to allow your child time to adjust to a full-day school day, and getting back into a regular routine.
Please look for homework packets coming home next week in a plastic homework folder. Your child will be sent home with a homework packet for the week, Monday-Thursday. The packet is due back to school on Thursday of each week. A math worksheet that reinforces the daily lessons will be sent home daily and are due back the next day.
Weekly packet - Return Thursday
Daily math worksheet - Return the next day - Occasionally may not be assigned.

1st Grade Room 104
We had a great first week of school. Everyone tried very hard and we are adjusting to our schedule. Please send your student to class with a bottle of water if you can. Having their own bottle of water will help them keep hydrated with less distraction.
your child’s weekly homework packet is now being sent home on Friday. Please return on Friday 8/19. Our homework folder order has not arrived yet, so no homework folder this week.
As first grade’s focus is to become fluent readers, Please have your child read nightly. Please read to them and have you and them follow the words with your fingers if they are not reading on their own yet. : ) Class decodeable books will be coming home to read after we read them in class. Please read the book several times until your child can read it fluently by themselves and sign the attached form. Nightly math will also be coming home.
We worked on the letters Aa Bb Cc Dd Ee Ff and Gg this week. We also worked on Writing numbers and understanding more than and less than on a picture graph. You can help your child at home by working on less than or least or fewer than.
